Terry Boston

Terry Boston, a member of the National Academy of Engineering, retired in 2016 after eight years as President and CEO of PJM, the largest U.S. electricity market and grid. He implemented one of the nation’s five HVDC lines, designed a major HVDC corridor upgrade, and served as CEO of GO15, the global consortium of grid operators serving 3.4 billion people, as well as advisor to the White House. Previously, he spent 35 years at TVA as Executive VP of Power System Operations and led NERC’s investigation into the 2003 blackout. Boston has chaired the North American Transmission Forum, served as president of both the Association of Edison Illuminating Companies and GO15, and was VP of CIGRE. His honors include the IEEE “Leadership in Power” award, the 2016 Attwood Award, and multiple Platts Global Energy Awards. He holds engineering degrees from Tennessee Technological University (BS) and the University of Tennessee (MS).
